It has been a very busy few months… Active Turf attended the Turf 11 conference in Adelaide from the 3rd to 6th August. It was held at the beautiful Stamford Grande in Glenelg.
The conference’s theme this year was “Cultivate Your Business”.
It was a very informative conference and we were able to gain some insight into the latest practical measures that need to be taken and implemented into our business to keep it running successfully.
There were different speakers from other industries sharing their business success stories. The one that stood out for me was the story of Geoff Hamilton from Nurture One. His was an inspiring story about a husband and wife business team who successfully built a thriving and very profitable childcare business from the ground up… It was great to hear about this husband and wife as I felt as I could really understand the difficulties that they would have faced and it was great to see that now they have a great work- life balance, that Charlie and I strive for everyday in our own business.
There was also a speaker called Gemma Gordon from the ATA (Australian Trucking Association). Gemma informed us of the legislative changes that affect turf producers.
Rob Littlewood from the Workwise Advisory Services also opened our eyes to operational policies and procedures needed to run a safe, loyal and respected workplace.
Finally there was a formal dinner held at the hotel on the Thursday night where we could let our hair down and enjoy talking to the other farmers from different parts of Australia.
Last week Active Turf attended the Gardening Expo held at Rosehill racecourse. It was a great weekend although the weather was a bit gloomy. Anne was at the Kings Pride Stand which was inside the pavilion. We had a lot of people stopping in and admiring the colour and feel of the beautiful Kings Pride that we had on show there. It was great day catching up with hopefully new and some old customers who have tried the kings Pride in their own yards and couldn’t be happier with their beautiful new lawn.
Look out for the Kings Pride Buffalo that will be on display in the Better Homes and Gardens show that is coming up on the 23rd to the 25th September.
